Tourism Authorities  project to overcome the 7 million tourists in 2022 

IDAC informs affected flies due to the storm in the United States  recover in february  

Santo Domingo. During the month of january of  2022 the Dominican Republic received  530,956 visitors  non residents,surpassing in a 129% the tourists  arrival  in the same period of 2021, despite the impact of the suspended flies due the winter storm  in the United States , according to figures released by the Ministry of Tourism.  

In relation to the impact of the snow storm,the interin CEO of  (IDAC) Héctor Porcella, who was present at the press conference,headed by the Tourism Minister David Collado, claimed that suspended flies at the end of january  started to recovery in february, as soon a the airports operations resumed  in the eastern coast of the United States.  

He considered himself that the climatic  phenomenon registered in  the  United States,main issuing market of tourist in the Dominican Republic,it will not affect the projection drawn up by the tourist authorities to the country to receive more than 7 million visitors by air in 2022, in addition of the growing number of passengers arriving  by sea  through cruise terminals to Puerto Plata, La Romana and  Santo Domingo.  

In that sense he highlighted  the approved dozens of  routes and operations in the first session of the year  by the Civil Aviation Joint  (JAC) of  35 flies and some others that will be certificated by  IDAC in the first trimester to connect the country with other cities,of  United States ,Canada and  Latin America.  

Companies undergoing of flies certifications are: Logic Pak, partner of Sky Cana, who it is operating as a dominican airline; Evelop, group  Barceló  , based in  Madrid and  Lisbon; and  ARAJET, product of a merger with DW Dominican Wings.  

In the meeting with the press, the minister Collado was acconpanied by  Rafael Blanco Tejera and  Andrés Marranzini, president and vicepresident executive of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants  (Asonahores); Ramón Roselló,executive  director of  Inverotel; the  viceministers of tourism , Jacqueline Mora and  Roberto Henríquez; Víctor Pichardo,Airport Department director ; and  Porcella,  among some others officers and sectors entrepreneurs.  

The minister  David Collado explained  during his report that Punta Cana airport  registred  the  55% of total arrivals  of non residents  during january 2022, while Las Americas,Santiago and La Romana airports  stayed above the january numbers 2021.  

The data provided indicates that the total of  incoming commercials flies to the Dominican Republic in january 2022 was of  5 thousands 120 flies of  149 airlines since 169 different airports.
