Technical committee evaluates production of sustainable aviation fuels in the country

Santo Domingo, D.R. – In order to learn about the process of ethanol production from sugarcane and estimate the national supply of biofuels in the country from this compound, the Sustainable Aviation Fuels Table in the country, Saf´s, recently visited the facilities of the company Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos.

During the tour, the delegation made up of representatives of different state institutions visited the plant’s facilities and verified from the experts the stages involved in the creation of the product.

The visit was made up of Miguel Mejía, deputy director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, and director of Sustainable Development; the inspector of the Aerodrome, Wilma Paulino; Judith De León, coordinator of the Directorate of Sustainable Development and Rafael Tejeda, Climate Change officer.

Similarly, Daniel Galván representing the Ministry of Energy and Mines; Georgina Canario of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources; Domingo Burgos of the Council on Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism; Magaly D” Oleo and Alberto Cruz of the Dominican Institute for Quality (INDOCAL); Julián Montaño and Juan Martínez of the Dominican Refinara de Petróleo S.A. Refridomsa, and the State Sugar Council, Cea, José Núñez.

The commission was received by Claudio Santoni, General Director of the company.The visit was carried out in compliance with the objectives of the International Civil Aviation Organization, whose strategy seeks to decarbonize the sector with projections to the year 2050.
