The general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, congratulated the Minister of Defense and the general director of the Specialized Corps for Airport and Civil Aviation Security, Cesac, for their contributions to consolidate security support strategies in matters of civil aviation in the Dominican Republic.

Héctor Porcella made the statement after participating in the nineteenth regular meeting of the National Civil Aviation Safety Committee Conasac, headed by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, as president of the organization and in charge of coordinating and supervise the implementation of policies and procedures to prevent acts of unlawful interference in the aeronautical sector.

The meeting took place at the main headquarters of Cesac, whose director, Brigadier General Pilot Floreal Suárez Martínez, presented a compendium on the advances in airport security and civil aviation in the country.

During the meeting, the procedure for action regarding the use of lasers in air navigation was discussed, which seeks to counteract the improper use of laser pointers that can affect air operations and compromise aviation safety.

Porcella gave special consideration to the importance of stopping the use of laser pointers to the detriment of aircraft in the country and highlighted the initiatives proposed to sanction and eradicate this practice. Another relevant topic discussed at the meeting had to do with the “tail to tail transfer procedure (from aircraft to aircraft)” for the luggage of passengers transferring at the Punta Cana international airport.
