Porcella states aeronautical sector  has played a key role in tourism recovery   

Secure projections 2022 aim to overcome air  traffic operations in the Dominican Republic, compared with the best prepandemic period, correspondent to 2018. 

Santo Domingo.The general director interim of   The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute Idac, Héctor Porcella, claimed that the aeronautical sector has played a key role in tourism recovery,by achieving the fastest recovery of air traffic in Latin  America and  achieve the prior figures before the  pandemic. 

He stated that the responsable institutions of civil aviation has accompanied with firm determination the strategy promoted by president  Luis Abinader and the Tourism minister , David Collado, to make possible that the Dominican Republic has become in the number one country in touristical activity  recovery world wide level. 

Highlighting that the air traffic recovery in the country started in a sustainable way since october 2021, when incoming and outgoing flies  statistical overcame in a   9%  operations of the same period in  2019. 

“This data are more significant when we make the comparison  with Europe, where the commercial aviation recovery started in  2022 trimestral,although it remains in a 42% low level of  2019, according with the most recently inform  of european  division of International  Airports Council, Aci Europe”, pointed Porcella. 

He pointed out that in Spain case, the second most important tourist destination in the world,the numbers of passengers  recieved in its airports  in the first  five months of the year  represents the 80% of those registered in the first five months of  2019. 

When refering  to the inform of the Tourism Ministry about the sector evolution in the first five months of the year, Idac’s bearer,pointed that projections  aim  to overcome air operations  in incoming and outgoing of passengers in the Dominican Republic, compared with the best pandemic period, corresponding to year  2018. 

According with  Mitur data, tourist arrival last month of may registered an  11 per cent growing above may  2018, a  6 per cent more than 2019 and a 44% in relation with th same period of the year  2021. 

Porcella pointed that the last months the Dominican  has extended its  air routes approving around seven flies permits to Europe cities,United States, Center and South America, while step forward in  evaluating of at least 12 air lines in differents phase of certification,some of which are already operating under the authorized protocols  by the  Dominican Aeronautical  Regulation. 

Porcella said that he shares numbers about the  contributions of civil aviation to tourism,not to answer to those who question the goverment and the current aeronauticals  authorities,but to shows numbers and facts that the men and women that serve in the institutions are firmly aligned  in the engagement headed by   president Luis Abinader to facing   the   crisis of external  origen  and strengthen the country as an example to follow in the world .
