Porcella leads DR delegation at Icao regional meeting with civil aviation directors

Varadero, Cuba.- The International Civil Aviation Organization Icao, inaugurated a workshop for general directors of civil aviation, to coordinate the signatory of States of the Civil Aviation Convention or Chicago Convention the elaboration of a Civil Aviation Master Plan that encompasses all the national plans of the different disciplines involved in the aeronautical activity.

The director general (i) of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation Idac, Hector Porcella,  who heads the Dominican delegation, reported that the workshop is taking place during the Eleventh Meeting of Civil Aviation Directors of the States of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (NACC-DCA-11), where relevant issues for the development of civil aviation in the region are addressed.

The Icao regional meeting is coordinated by Icao Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar, with the support of the Regional Director for North, Central America and the Caribbean, Julio Siu and the Regional Director of the ICAO Office for South America, Fabio Rabbani.

Porcella explained that Idac arranged since the beginning of 2023 the training of a technical team, with the support of Icao, which is currently working on the preparation of the Civil Aviation Master Plan of the Dominican Republic, for which it will soon carry out consultations with the other official entities of the aeronautical sector and with other companies and state institutions whose functions contribute to the development of aviation and tourism.

“With this initiative we seek to consolidate all the national civil aviation plans (ANP, PNSAC) with the national plans of the other entities in a Master Plan, which will represent for the Dominican State a valuable strategic planning tool,” said Porcella.

One of the objectives of the project proposed by Icao, he said, is to achieve the full articulation of several aspects of vital importance for the development of multiple sectors of the national economy.

The Dominican delegation was also made up of the president of the Civil Aviation Board, Jac, José Marte Piantini, the director of the Specialized Corps for Airport and Civil Aviation Security Cesac, Brigadier General Floreal Suárez; the director of Sustainable Development of Idac, Miguel Mejía; the director of Air Navigation, Claudia Roa, as well as technical representatives of the institutions of the sector. The delegation was received by the Minister of Transport of Cuba, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila.
