Santo Domingo. The general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation Idac, Héctor Porcella confirmed that the renowned North American technician Eduardo -Jay- Rodríguez will coordinate the team of national and international advisors that will accompany Idac during the audit that the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States Faa will carry out in the country.
He indicated that Rodriguez, a former Faa official, will be accompanied by several national and foreign technicians with the mission to make sure that the Dominican aeronautical system is one hundred percent prepared in compliance with Faa standards when the date of the inspection is set.
He recalled that Rodríguez was advisor to the Idac for more than a year and retired for health reasons in March 2023, after performing, together with other national and foreign technicians, a valuable work of updating the regulations and guides for operations and maintenance inspectors.
When ceasing his duties as an advisor, Rodríguez said in a letter sent to Porcella that during his stay at Idac he was able to appreciate the remarkable progress made by the institution in terms of regulatory modernization of civil aviation, and
stressed that the review and modernization applied during his tenure at Idac began with all civil aviation regulations, the updating of new guidelines for operations and maintenance inspectors and for the approval of modern equipment and new generation engines.
Further more, the technician praised Porcella’s management as head of Idac and assured that the achievements would not have been possible without his leadership and vision of compliance with operational safety.
