
Barahona.- The general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation Idac, Héctor Porcella said that the commissioning of the Southern Command of the Air Force of the Dominican Republic Fard, at the María Montez Airport, in Barahona, will have a strategic impact in the region, since it will enforce the national aeronautical system and will also contribute to safeguarding the air and territorial sovereignty of the country.
President Luis Abinader led the formal ceremony to start the construction works at the Barahona Air Base and the operation of the Southern Command of the Air Force accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa; the General Commander of the Fard, Carlos Ramón Febrillet Rodríguez; and the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza.
Also present at the double activity were the Minister of Public Health, Daniel Rivera; the senator of Santiago, Eduardo Estrella; the governor of Barahona, Genera González, the mayor of Barahona, Míctor Fernández, the director of the Airport Department, Víctor Pichardo; and the general director of Idac, Héctor Porcella.

Porcella shared special congratulations to President Abinader; the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Díaz Morfa; Major General Carlos Febrillet Rodríguez; and the airport director Víctor Pichardo, for assuming the project and making the necessary efforts to make possible such important works for the strengthening of national security and economic development of the Southern Region.
Porcella also accompanied the President at the starting of the construction work of the San Juan de La Maguana aerodrome, which, in his opinion, will also have a great impact on the economic plane and the promotion of private aviation tourism, which is being promoted by a new protocol approved by the Executive Power.
