Berlín, Germany. – The interim general director of the Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil, Idac, Héctor Porcella affirmed that the Dominican delegation at the ITB fair in Berlin began with the right actions to reconquest the tourist german market, which once represented the main international market to the Dominican Republic.

Porcella said that the agenda of activities developed by the delegation headed by the Minister of Tourism David Collado included the signing of important agreements and the presentation of the Dominican tourism product to more than 250 tour operators, travel agents and airline representatives.

He particularly highlighted the agreement signed with Condor Airline to start Air France´s routes  with the Dominican Republic next summer.

Porcella affirmed that the German market is of fundamental importance for the country, not only because in the 1980s it became the main source market for the emerging Dominican destination, but also because after three years of confinement, the Germans have a special interest in tourism outside their borders.

He said that in the last decades there has been a significant drop in the flow of German tourists to the Dominican Republic, which he attributed to the growth of other markets in Europe, North America and South America.

However, he said that the civil aviation authorities are working to strengthen air conectivity with Germany and other countries of the area, besides accompanying all the efforts promoted by the Ministry of Tourism to attract more travelers from Europe and from any other part of the world.
