
Varadero, Cuba. The general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation Idac, Héctor Porcella considered as an important achievement the country’s participation in the agreement sponsored by the International Civil Aviation Organization Icao, to access the telecommunications network services of voice, and terrestrial and satellite data of the Cansnet platform in the Caribbean region.
After representing the country in the signing of an agreement with Icao, Porcella said that the new protocol will promote the expansion of networks that will support air navigation services with new capabilities that would provide a telecommunication interface and protocol flexibility to strengthen operational safety in the Dominican Republic and would ensure coverage for future demand for digital services.
The agreement signed by the States, duly represented by their respective directors of civil aviation, and the future provider of network services, which will be tendered through Icao, represented by its Secretary General, Juan Carlos Salazar, establishes that the selected provider will offer terrestrial and satellite telecommunication services, including support related to the operational part, maintenance and administrative management required by the Service Level Agreement, Sla, contracted by each State involved.
“This is a valuable tool to complement the efforts promoted by the Dominican State to develop civil and commercial aviation with the highest safety standards,” said Porcella during the event that took place in Varadero, Cuba, during the eleventh regional meeting of Icao with directors general of civil aviation.
The agreement implies the commitment of each State of the region to support the execution of the project of the new Cansnet network.
Porcella, who led the Dominican delegation, was accompanied by representatives of other institutions of the national aeronautical sector, thanked the efforts and technical support provided by the Idac, Air Navigation Directorate for the achievement of this important milestone.
The head of Idac, also spoke at the workshop organized by Icao, to address relevant issues on civil aviation, presenting a special emphasis on operational safety.
