Porcella congratulates Asca team on election as the only Spanish-speaking center in Icao's Trainair Plus

Santo Domingo. The Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation Idac, Héctor Porcella, congratulated the staff of the Superior Academy of Aeronautical Sciences, Asca, for their selection as the only specialized Spanish-speaking training center as member of the Executive Committee of the TRAINAIR Plus program (TPSC) of the International Civil Aviation Organization, Icao.

In a message addressed to Director Clara Fernandez and the other collaborators of the Asca, Porcella said that the choice of the Academy represents a worldwide recognition of the Dominican Republic in terms of aeronautical training.

“Being part of such body, composed by only 18 States and headed by the Netherlands, is a distinction held by world-class training centers that, due to their excellence in specialized technical training in aviation, have achieved outstanding leadership in their region, showing high quality in their training, in accordance with aviation instruction regulations,” said the director of IDAC in his message.

Upon receiving the congratulations on behalf of the teaching, administrative and support team of the Asca, the rector Clara Fernández thanked the encouragement and support that the academy has received from the management of the Idac to respond effectively to the challenge posed by the remarkable growth registered by the country’s aeronautical activity and to achieve the levels of efficiency recognized by the main instances of international civil aviation.

She explained that the TPSC steering committee is elected for three-year terms and its main function is to provide guidance and advice to Icao for the improvement of the Trainair Plus program and international aeronautical instruction, aimed to raising the quality of training and supporting Member States in building sufficient human resource capacities to sustain the development of aviation.

The following states are also part of such committee: the Netherlands, Morocco, the Republic of Korea, Brazil, Canada, China, Ethiopia, France, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
