Santiago de los Caballeros. More than 10,000 students visited the booth of the Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil (IDAC) to experience the flight simulator of the Academia Superior de Ciencias Aeronáuticas (ASCA), where a considerable number of participants showed interest in learning more about the aeronautical sector and becoming part of aviation in the future.

During the seven-day celebration of the 2026 Cibao Regional Book and Culture Fair, held in the gardens of the Gran Teatro del Cibao, visitors enjoyed a unique experience that combined education, technology, and culture, sparking the interest of children and young people in the world of aviation.

The IDAC booth was visited by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, the Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, and other public and private sector authorities, who were welcomed by IDAC Director General Igor Rodríguez Durán.

Rodríguez emphasized that the institution’s participation in this event aims to bring aviation closer to the public, inspire new generations not to see their dreams as unattainable, and show them the opportunities offered by a sector that continues to increase its demand for human talent every day.
The official, who is also a pilot, explained that the aviation sector offers multiple job opportunities ranging from air operations and safety to administrative and technological management.
Among the main career paths are commercial pilot, air traffic control, maintenance, and cabin crew. These opportunities allow young people and professionals to find in aviation a dynamic career with a high level of specialization and a strong impact on economic development.
