
Santo Domingo. Engineer Igor Rodríguez Durán took office on Monday as the new general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, in a ceremony headed by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza.
In the presence of servants of the institution, Rodríguez highlighted his commitment to continue strengthening transparency, innovation and growth of civil aviation in the country. He expressed his gratitude to President Luis Abinader for the trust placed in him by assigning him the direction of the organization, and reaffirmed his mission to consolidate the achievements made in the entity.
“A great team of men and women will accompany me in this task, and united as a single family, we will deliver good results to Dominican society,” he said.
For his part, the outgoing director, Héctor Porcella, expressed his confidence that Rodríguez’s management will bring dynamism to this important sector. “I am sure that Igor will make a great effort within the framework of his new functions and I reiterate my orders for whatever is required at some point,” emphasized Porcella, who was appointed president of the Civil Aviation Board.
At the time of swearing in Rodríguez, Minister Paliza highlighted the work carried out by Porcella, highlighting achievements such as the signing of the Open Skies agreement and the preservation of Category 1.
“I congratulate the effort of Héctor and the entire team during these years, they managed to move this institution forward. I predict success in his new functions for Igor Rodríguez, a person of integrity and always willing to achieve the goals set,” he said.
Rodríguez is graduated of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in Systems and Computing Engineering. He has master’s degrees in Software Engineering, Business Administration, Executive Management and Logistics, all from PUCMM, and is also a private pilot.
In the last four years he was Administrative Deputy Minister of the Presidency and since January he assumed as interim minister, on the leave of José Ignacio Paliza. He was appointed as director of IDAC by the head of state on July 17th.
