Santo Domingo.– The general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Igor Rodríguez Durán, stated this Wednesday that the institution is firmly committed to investing in cutting-edge technology, strengthening human capital capabilities, and protecting the environment as pillars for the sustainable development of civil aviation in the Dominican Republic.

Rodríguez made these statements during his participation in the panel “Human Capital Challenges in Civil Aviation,” held on the second day of the Thirteenth Meeting of Directors General of Civil Aviation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (NACC/DGCA/13), which is being held in Santo Domingo under the coordination of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

“The IDAC recognizes that human capital is the most valuable resource in our aeronautical system. That’s why we constantly work on training, updating, and upgrading our personnel to respond to the challenges of a constantly evolving sector,” Rodríguez stated before representatives from more than 25 states and 15 international and industrial organizations.
During his speech, the head of IDAC also highlighted the strategic investments made by the organization in the automation of aeronautical services and programs aimed at mitigating the environmental impact of air operations.
He also reiterated the Dominican State’s commitment, through the IDAC, to ICAO’s global environmental sustainability goals, especially with regard to reducing carbon emissions in aviation.
The NACC/DGCA/13 meeting brings together the region’s top civil aviation authorities to exchange experiences, analyze common challenges, and strengthen regional cooperation on issues such as operational safety, air navigation, human talent development, and the sector’s resilience to new threats.
