Santo Domingo, DR. – The general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, Igor Rodríguez, valued today the ruling of the Constitutional Court that declares the Open Skies Agreement between the Dominican Republic and the United States in accordance with the Constitution.
Rodríguez stressed that this decision of the highest judicial court in the nation represents a significant step for the development of the airline sector.
According to the official, the implementation of the agreement will foster competition, boost operational efficiency and contribute to economic growth through greater international connectivity.
“With this decision, the Dominican Republic is moving towards a more competitive and efficient aviation model, which will benefit both travelers and companies in the sector,” he said.
He indicated that the main objective of the Open Skies Agreement is to liberalize air transport between the two countries, allowing greater flexibility in flight routes and frequencies, which is expected to translate into more competitive fares and an increase in tourism and commercial activity.
“Thanks to the support of the President of Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, the aeronautical sector moves to a second level in competitiveness, quality and service,” he argued.
Likewise, Rodríguez reiterated Idac’s commitment to the strengthening of civil aviation and the adoption of policies that position the Dominican Republic as a regional leader in aeronautics.
