Punta Caucedo,  Santo Domingo province – More than 800 peoples, mainly young, participated in the first jobs fair organized by the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation  (Idac),where around 150 vacancies of technicians, air operator, crew members, customer service and management areas were registered. 

The event, performed in the Superior Academy of Aeronautical Sciences premises Asca of Punta Caucedo Point, counted with the participation  at least of  10 companies and entities linked to civil aviation, interested in recruiting staff to serve in the operation growing of its activities.

Among the companies with bigger demands of human resources were the new airlines Arajet, has presented  60 vacancies in management and technical areas; Punta Cana, group with  15 positions for air tours operators and customer service; Longport Aviation, con 10 proposals for  passenger service, technologies assistant  and human resources interns; Airport Department, with  10 positions to operate in its various premises; the VIP crew academy , that registered applications to  6 vacancies, Aviam with more than 20 vacancies in its various areas, such as Sky high and aeronautical workshops; besides, it also counted with the presence of Enalas  and  BanReservas both of them with informative stands. 

Idacs, interim general director Héctor Porcella, declared himself “pleasantly surprised” by the First Jobs Fair success convened by that entity with the support of the various companies and institutions of the aeronautical sector. 

He said that the notable influx of young people interested in join the civil aviation word it’s a response to the outstanding growth that has been registered the aeronautical activities in the country in the latest two years, despite the pandemic and difficulties that has limited the international air connectivity.

“the presence of  800 young people, eager  to insert themselves in the labour market of civil aviation by serving the country through an activity of wide growing  perspectives  , confirms that the Dominican Republic is on its way with firm steps to become in one of the first aeronautical powers in the region”, pointed Porcella. 

While the Superior Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (Asca) director Clara Fernández, showed herself highly satisfied of this training organism as a warranty to create an interactive space between the society and the companies that facilitate the integration of new talents in the civil aviation world. 

She affirmed that the jobs fair to the aeronautical sector and the academy “open house” to attract new students for the demanding careers in civil aviation, it has become in one of the successful activities   of the commemorative week organized by Idac, about the International Day of Civil Aviation instituted by the United Nations since year of 1996.
