Idac warns of risks for irresponsible use of drones at Easter

Santo Domingo-. The Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil, Idac, urged the drone operators (remote piloted aircraft) to make responsible use of such equipment during the Easter Week, due to the risk they could pose to people, property and other aircraft.

The IDAC pointed out the illegality and high-risk involving the use of drones to fly within 50 meters over congested areas of people, vehicles and buildings, besides it constitute a violation of the right to privacy

It recommends drone operators  to keep them below 400 feet, as provided by the regulations governing their use, in order to prevent possible accidents with other aircraft in the airspace.

The Idac recalls that, for security reasons, drones should never be flown near airports and airfields, neither in restricted areas, and failure to comply with these provisions could imply sanctions, according to the rules governing this activity.

Civil Liability

Idac points out that, according to the Dominican Aeronautical Regulations, the owners or users of drones are civilly liable to third parties affected by the improper use of such remote piloted aircraft.
