Idac reports DR airspace was never in danger from rocket explosion

As a preventive measure, the aircraft that were ready to take off from the airports of La Romana, Punta Cana, Las Américas José Francisco Peña Gómez and Santiago were kept on the ground.

Santo Domingo, D.R.- The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (Idac) reported tonight that the airspace of the Dominican Republic was never in danger, despite the explosion of a rocket, which occurred minutes after its takeoff from United States territory.

The Idac explained that, although the remains of the ship were captured, these fragments did not pose any threat to the country, nor to the safety of civil aviation.

“We want to reassure the population, since the remains of the spacecraft never posed a danger to the airspace of the Dominican Republic, nor to the safety of citizens,” said Idac, which has maintained constant monitoring of the situation since the incident.

The general director of Idac, Igor Rodríguez Durán reiterated his commitment to air safety and the continuous surveillance of any event that may affect the integrity of the national airspace.
