
Icao Secretary General Welcomes Dominican Republic’s Contributions to International Civil Aviation
Montreal, Canada.- The General Director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, reaffirmed the commitment of the Dominican Republic to continue in its mission to contribute to the aeronautical development of the region, hand in hand with the International Civil Aviation Organization, Icao.
Igor Rodríguez Durán said that both he, and the team of men and women, professionals and aviation technicians who accompany him in his management, have assumed the responsibility of maintaining the country as one of the main models of compliance with the standards established by the body that governs aviation worldwide.
“When President Luis Abinader entrusted us with the task of directing Idac, we faced it with the integrity that we have assumed in each of the professional areas in which we have worked, both in the private sector, and on this occasion, in the public service,” he added.

These statements were offered during his speech at the parallel meeting of the Advanced Air Mobility Symposium (AAM), which takes place in this city in the north of the American continent.
Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of Icao, expressed his gratitude to the Dominican Republic for the contributions it has made as a Member State to international civil aviation.
Salazar stressed that Icao is currently focused on strengthening its structure through several pillars, including improving organizational culture, promoting leadership and developing talent.
For his part, Igor Rodríguez thanked the president and secretary general of Icao, Salvatore Sciacchitano and Juan Carlos Salazar, who highlighted the contributions of the Caribbean country to the aeronautical system of the region.
“We will continue working to ensure that our services comply with the highest levels of operational safety, being that our objective is to promote civil aviation to another level,” said the head of Idac.
The 2024 Advanced Air Mobility Symposium brings together leaders from industry, academia and government representatives, to discuss the latest trends in advanced air mobility.
Julio Peña Guzmán, ambassador and permanent representative of the Dominican Republic to Icao also participates in the event; in addition, the directors of Air Navigation, Claudia Roa; Gender Castro, of Operational Safety Surveillance and Claudio Martínez Turbí, of Communications and Public Relations.
