
Caracas. The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation Idac, headed by its general director Héctor Porcella, presented in Venezuela at the annual session of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission Clac. the progress made in the country for the development of research on creation of alternative fuel for aeronautical activity.
The main responsible for IDAC Sustainable Development Directorate was in charge of the presentation, as part of the International Seminar on Alternative Fuels, which aimed to guide States on best practices to achieve the goal of zero emissions of Carbon Dioxide Co2.
IDAC’s Director of Sustainable Development, Miguel Amaury Mejía, and the Director Coordinator, Judit De León, also reviewed the efforts made by the Dominican Republic to progressively reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
They also highlighted the signing of the Declaration of Santo Domingo 2023, where aviation authorities and other authorities that regulate the issue of fuel committed to develop under a roadmap, research and certification work for the creation of sustainable aviation fuel Saf, from sugarcane´s biomass materials and research work involving the use of solid waste.
During the seminar, Icao Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar invited the governments of the region to invest in the formulation of projects, research programs, capacity building and policy formulation, in pursuit of sustainable fuels applying the Act-Saf method.

The Dominican delegation was attended by the general director of Idac, Héctor Porcella; the president of the Civil Aviation Board, José Marte Piantini; the ambassador to Icao, Julio Peña Guzmán; and the legal director of Idac, Bernarda Franco.
