IDAC launches ‘Health Week’ aimed at employees from all locations

Punta Caucedo.- “A healthy institution has physically and mentally healthy employees,” has been the motto with which the authorities of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, launched what they have called “Health Week,” an initiative aimed at promoting the physical, mental, and social well-being of its staff through activities, workshops, and informational talks.

The program aims to promote healthy habits, disease prevention, and a safe work environment, contributing to improving the quality of life and productivity of the staff working in all Idac locations, spread across international airports throughout the country and at its headquarters.

The General Director, Igor Rodríguez Durán, highlighted the importance of initiatives like these, which reflect the commitment of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute to the overall well-being of its people, whom he described as “the most valuable resource.”

“The prevention of diseases is one of our main goals. With adequate information and conscious decisions, we can avoid many of the ailments that affect us today. But beyond prevention, we also want to promote self-care, emotional well-being, a balance between work and personal life, and a safe, respectful, and supportive work environment,” said Rodríguez Durán.

The Director General of Idac also stated that in his administration they are aware that healthy staff are also more motivated, more productive, and more committed. And this translates into a stronger, more efficient, and more humane institution. “Because taking care of our people is also taking care of the mission that unites us: to ensure the safety and development of civil aviation in our country.”

In the same vein, the institution’s Human Resources Director, Maribel López, spoke, who, while thanking the general director for supporting this and other initiatives that have been developed for the benefit of the employees, also expressed gratitude to the employees for responding to the call and to the other directors and department heads for facilitating the way in which their staff will be attended to throughout the week.

The schedule for Health Week is organized as follows: Monday 20th, starting at the Norge Botello Aeronautical Complex, located near Las Américas International Airport, with dental and ophthalmology examinations, blood tests including complete blood count, blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, urea, creatinine, total cholesterol, HDL-LDL, and triglycerides; posture examination, blood pressure station, weight, and height measurement.

Talks were given such as “Your Well-being Matters: Stress and Mental Health at Work,” “Pension Regime,” a talk on comprehensive HIV and STD prevention, “Stronger Than Fear: Prevention Starts Today” (Breast Cancer Prevention), and a talk on men’s health: “Masculine Strength: Knowledge That Protects” (Prostate Cancer Prevention).

The Health Week event will also take place on Tuesday the 21st in the town of El Catey in Arroyo Barril, Samaná; Wednesday the 22nd at the María Montez International Airport in Barahona; Thursday the 23rd at Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata; and on Friday the 24th it will return to the facilities of the Aeronautical Complex to attend to the staff of Block A, 30 de Marzo, Benigno del Castillo, Norge Botello, AILA, ASCA, Higüero, and Indomet.

This program is supported by specialized staff from the Ministry of Public Health, DIDA, ARS Humano, National Health Insurance, Óptica VIP, Analisa, and Schübell.
