Bringing aviation closer to the public and inspiring new vocations is part of the institution’s educational commitment.

Santiago de los Caballeros – The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) and its specialized academic branch, the Higher Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (ASCA), have joined the educational institutions participating in the First Regional Book and Culture Fair Cibao 2026, taking place from April 19 to 26 at the gardens of the Gran Teatro del Cibao.
On this occasion, IDAC and ASCA are making a modern flight simulator available to the public, offering visitors the opportunity to experience, for a few minutes, what a pilot experiences inside the cockpit. It is an interactive experience that sparks curiosity, excitement, and, in many cases, an interest in the world of aviation.

The institution especially invites students and young people to visit its stand, learn more about this sector, and discover possible career paths within civil aviation in a guided and safe environment.
Beyond the technology, this initiative seeks to connect with people, encourage learning, and demonstrate that aviation can also become part of their dreams, through a proposal designed for the entire family, where learning and experience come together in one space, bringing together thousands of visitors around culture and knowledge.
Through its participation, IDAC reaffirms its commitment to continuing to bring aviation closer to citizens, inviting everyone to enjoy a different, educational, and memorable experience.

About ASCA and the Flight Simulator
The Higher Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (ASCA), the training arm of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), is participating in the First Regional Book and Culture Fair, where it is showcasing its flight simulator along with its academic offerings at the Higher Technical level and its Continuing Education programs.
During the event, visitors have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the various training opportunities available in the aeronautical sector, in addition to enjoying an interactive experience through the modern Flight Simulator, one of the academy’s main attractions at large public events.
The Flight Simulator is used in familiarization processes, basic practice sessions, procedural training, and flight instrument training, contributing both to the development of students’ technical skills and to bringing the public closer to the world of aviation.
