Porcella denies Faa has ordered RD to suspend certifications of new airlines and flight routes, as published on social networks and some media
Santo Domingo. The general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation Idac, Héctor Porcella said that, to date, all the airlines, areas and flight routes authorized by the United States will continue to operate normally, although the Federal Aviation Administration Faa, decides to subject the new authorizations to the pending inspection of the aeronautical system of the Dominican Republic.
Porcella denied that the Idac has received any communication from the Faa suspending new routes or airline certifications, as has circulated on social networks and some media.
He explained that the Faa’s decision to conduct an inspection in the country is a normal measure guaranteed by the reciprocity agreement between the two States and by the criteria established in the International Aviation Safety Assessment Program Iasa, as per the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization idac.
“We have not received any communication to stop the certifications in the Dominican Republic, neither disavowing the approval of new air routes to different destinations in the world,” affirmed Porcella, and explained that when the pending audit is initiated, it would make sense for the United States to freeze the granting of new routes or certifications until such process is concluded.
Porcella insisted that all airlines and all flights to US territory authorized so far by the Faa will continue to operate normally.
Regarding the International Aviation Safety Assessment Program Idac, he explained that it is an instrument established by the FAA and approved by Icao to ensure that the existing best safety standards in civil and commercial aviation are duly met.
Porcella said that through such shared commitment between the Faa and civil aviation authorities around the world, the Iasa program helps to identify areas in order to strengthen aviation safety oversight and meet the standards of the Icao.
