Idac highlights key issues on the agenda of the Icao World Symposium to be held in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, highlighted the main topics on the agenda of the III World Symposium to Support the Implementation of the International Civil Aviation Organization Giss, which will gather representatives from 195 member countries of the organization of the United Nations.

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, highlighted the main topics on the agenda of the III World Symposium to Support the Implementation of the International Civil Aviation Organization Giss, which will gather representatives from 193 member countries of the organization of the United Nations.

The meeting will take place for the first time on the American continent, at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center in Punta Cana, from April 30 to May 2.

The general director of Idac, Héctor Porcella, said that the topics of the event will range from the development of modernized airport infrastructure in response and preparation of crisis situations, advanced air mobility and the role of air transport in the growth of tourism.

He explained that key proposals for aeronautical development will also be addressed, exploring the importance of emerging technologies to drive effective training projects and competency-based training to prepare qualified and adaptable human capital for the demands of the future.

Discussions will also focus on the “Finvest Hub” initiative proposed by Icao, which emphasizes the need to increase collaboration between the aviation sector and financial institutions, to meet the goal of decarbonizing aviation by 2050.

The symposium aims to showcase the latest digital tools developed by Icao and highlight its key initiatives and collaborative efforts to strengthen aviation resilience, drive innovation, promote sustainable development and offer new operational solutions for the benefit of participating countries.

In addition to participating in discussions with aviation experts, Member States will have the opportunity to explore the latest products and services in the sector, from sponsors and exhibitors.

The symposium is open to all aviation-related entities, including Ministries, General Directorates of Civil Aviation, international and regional organizations, aviation service providers, financial and development institutions, academic institutions, industrial partners and other interested parties.

Porcella stated that the celebration of the important Icao conclave in the country is a recognition of the extraordinary positioning achieved in the field of civil aviation and tourism.

He revealed that Icao and Idac have extended invitations to the main State authorities and a notable representation of the country’s business leadership.
