The Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Igor Rodríguez Durán, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Playa Grande International Airport in Río San Juan, in the María Trinidad Sánchez province— a strategic project for the tourism development of the country’s northern region.
The event was led by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, alongside the Minister of Tourism, David Collado; executives from Playa Grande, Discovery Land Company and Aman Resorts; as well as Major League Baseball icon Alex Rodríguez.
From IDAC, the commitment to promote the Dominican Republic as a destination through safe, modern, and efficient aviation was reaffirmed. “In this regard, we work to ensure that every air operation is carried out under the highest standards of safety and quality,” the official stated.
“With these actions we contribute to the sustained growth of tourism, strengthening the country’s connectivity with the world and supporting President Luis Abinader’s vision to continue promoting the nation’s economic and tourism development,” Rodríguez Durán emphasized.
