Porcella delivers certification to national company to operate as ground handling agent at Cibao International Airport

Santo Domingo.- The General Director (i) of the Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil (Idac), Héctor Porcella, defined as non-negotiable the fulfillment of all the requirements and procedures established by the national regulations and the norms of the international civil aviation to deliver certifications to aeronautical operators.
He explained that the streamlining of the approval processes of several airlines and aviation operators that have been certified during the current management of the Idac was due to the strengthening of the responsible technical areas and the adoption of measures to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, following the guidelines drawn up by President Luis Abinader in order to facilitate new investments and to support the economic development demanded by the country.
Porcella produced his statements when delivering the certification to “Empresas Aic, Ground Handling” as Aircraft Ground Assistance Agent, to provide Platform and Cabin Operations Services at the Cibao International Airport in Santiago.
“As of today, you are officially endorsed by this institute as a company that complies with the regulations to operate at the international airport of Santiago”, he said when delivering the corresponding certificate to Mr. Julio Cocco, Operations Manager of Empresas Aic, Ground Handling.
“I would like to take this opportunity to specify that our institution has procedures, processes and phases of mandatory compliance to grant any license in the civil aeronautical field of the Dominican Republic, as long as the interested parties comply with all Dominican aeronautical regulations and the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (Icao)°, he added.
He explained that compliance with the phases established in the regulations and standards is a non-negotiable aspect for the certification of an aeronautical operator, which is in order to guarantee the operational safety and sustainable development of Dominican civil aviation.
New guide to facilitate procedures
Porcella affirmed that the current management of Idac has also taken steps to facilitate the compliance required by operators through the new “User Guide related to the procedures necessary for the certification of air operators”, which has been prepared by the Directorate of Flight Standards with the support of the Legal Directorate and technical directorates of the institution.
He indicated that this guide defines in a clear and simple way the five phases that air operators must comply with to receive the corresponding certification.
