Idac and Cusep sign agreement with impact on national defense and operational security

Santo Domingo. The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation Idac, and the Presidential Security Corps Cusep, formalized a cooperation agreement to promote initiatives in the areas of defense, operational security and national security.

The agreement was signed by the general director of Idac Héctor Porcella and by the head of Cusep, Brigadier General ERD Jimmy Arias Grullón, and establishes the sponsoring, training, prevention,  and training activities for both institutions´ personnel, with direct impact on the security objectives of the Presidency of the Republic as the highest instance of the National Government; and civil aviation, as a strategic sector of the country’s economic development.

The agreement highlights the interest to conduct joint efforts to develop the highest degree of cooperation and coordination of actions aimed at achieving an effective and efficient performance of the responsibilities inherent to each institution regarding defense and security throughout the national territory.

After the signing of the protocol, Porcella explained that both institutions will integrate working commissions in various areas in order to carry out the planned activities, including the prior exchange of information to implement operational technical training plans in aeronautical aspects.

 He explained that the agreement will devote special interest to work on the monitoring and operation of unmanned aircraft (drones), which have an important implication in security, both for aviation and national security, and specifically presidential security.

General Arias Grullón indicated that the agreement has the support and authorization of the Presidency of the Republic and the Ministry of Defense, and both will be duly informed about its execution and development.
