
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, the Civil Aviation Board, Jac, the Specialized Corps in Airport and Civil Aviation Security, Cesac, the Airport Department, DA, joined forces for the celebration of Dominican Civil Aviation Week 2024, starting with a floral offering at the Altar of the Homeland and a thanksgiving mass at the Military Cathedral of Santa Barbara. to which collaborators of the aforementioned institutions and related members of the Dominican aeronautical sector were summoned.
The respective solemn acts are the best example of the cohesion in which the organizations that have a leading role in the Dominican air system are, whose objectives are perfectly aligned with the provisions issued by President Luis Abinader, to make the country the main tourist hub in the region, with civil aviation being the main means to receive the millions of travelers who visit us every year.

“Aviation brings people together, boosts economies and strengthens cultural ties between nations. In our region, civil aviation has been key to economic and social growth. Each flight that takes off not only transports passengers and goods, but also dreams, opportunities and hopes,” said Igor Rodríguez Durán, general director of Idac, during his speech at the Military Cathedral of Santa Barbara.
It is necessary to remember that both the floral offering and the thanksgiving mass are part of the commemorative events of Aviation Week that the Idac carries out every year, to give way to the celebration of International Civil Aviation Day, which takes place on December 7.

The date has been commemorative since 1994, at the initiative of the United Nations General Assembly, at the initiative of the International Civil Aviation Organization, Icao, to highlight the crucial role played by the sector in the economic and social development of peoples.
“Despite the achievements, we are aware of the challenges facing the sector: environmental sustainability, post-pandemic recovery, and the need to incorporate innovative technologies to respond to the demands of the 21st century. This is a call to work together to build greener, more efficient and accessible aviation for all,” added Rodríguez Durán.

The general director of Idac reaffirmed the commitment of all those involved in the development of the Dominican air system, to preserve the principles that guide civil aviation, such as safety, efficiency, accessibility and innovation.
“It is appropriate to highlight all the effort made by President Luis Abinader so that the aviation sector today is much more strengthened, in addition to the work that has been done by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado,” he emphasized.
Both the floral offering at the Altar of the Homeland, and the thanksgiving mass at the Military Cathedral of Santa Bárbara were attended by the heads of the Idac, the Jac, the Cesac and the DA Igor Rodríguez Durán, Héctor Porcella, the Brigadier General, pilot Emmanuel Souffront Tamayo and Víctor Pichardo, respectively, as well as deputy general directors. directors, managers and coordinators of areas, as well as special guests and collaborators from the four institutions involved.
In the offering at the Altar of the Homeland, the music band of the Air Force of the Dominican Republic sang the glorious notes of the National Anthem, while the Eucharist was officiated by the Reverend Father Milcíades Florentino.
