
Santo Domingo. – The interim general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (Idac), Héctor Porcella, considers that the proposed project by president Luis Abinader about Promotion of Competitiveness of National Civil Aviation is aimed to reduce the air ticket prices, to boost the touristic development and to consolidate the country as one the main aeronautical powers in Las Americas.
When greeting the Abinader announcement at the culmination of the Civil Aviation Week, Porcella maintains that the ruler is proposing to the Legislative Power to establish the legal and tax legislation to support the aeronautical park growth to the country, attracting new investment to fulfil his promise to lower the air tickets prices.
“As the legal consultant of the Executive Power has just informed, Antoliano Peralta, this initiative seek to establish the necessaries incentives to promote a rising in tourist arrivals, by creating new domestics and international routes by strengthening the positioning to the Dominican Republic as a connecting point to the transport, passengers and cargo logistic, international trade and investment”, points out Porcella.
Idac’s interim general director highlighted in the first two years of the current government, the Dominican Republic had already duplicated its aeronautical park, it’s in the process to certificate other 7 airlines and has substantially improved its air connectivity with the world .
And he assured that the country will break all records this year of air operations, a fact that reflects itself in the sustainable growth of tourist arrival, since for the first time in history it will reach the figure of 7 millions of visitors received in internationals airport terminals.
After pointing that this year 2022 will be the best year in aviation history in the country, he stated that that feat would not have been possible without the president Luis Abinader support, and his initiatives to create the Tourist Cabinet, coordinated efficiently by the minister David Collado.
