Idac activates its emergency committee before the possible passage of storm Franklin

Santo Domingo.  The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, announced the activation of its emergency committee and agreed to apply its prevention protocols, to face the possible presence of storm Franklin starting this Tuesday.

The general director of Idac, Héctor Porcella, delivered instructions to the areas´ directors, in order to remain alert to arrange the corresponding measures, following the guidelines of the Emergency Operations Center, Coe.

Porcella also ordered the take the necessary steps to protect aeronautical personnel and equipment, and to be available full-time, according to the evolution of the phenomenon.

The recommendations outlined to Idac staff include consulting or following the guidance of the civil protection authorities and participation in any initiative to support the general population, in case of contingencies.

Porcella made the announcement right after the Emergency Operations Center placed the 32 provinces of the country on yellow and green alert, due to the projected passage of the storm on Tuesday. The authorities predict that if it maintains its trajectory the phenomenon could produce 300 millimeters of rain in the Dominican Republic.
