Punta Caucedo. -The Superior Academy of Aeronautical Science, Asca, of the Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil, Idac, put into service in aerodromes a modern air traffic control simulator under the 360-degree configuration, unique in the region and which will be used for total immersion training on parallel or almost parallel runways.
During the inauguration event, the general director Interim of Idac, Héctor Porcella, highlighted that the modern device will provide the right conditions to perform realistic simulations, facilitating students to perform simultaneously in each control position, maintaining a complete visual perspective of the aerodrome, its surroundings and air operations
He explained that the simulator installed at Asca is part of Idac´s commitment for the modernization and equipment of the structures that strengthen the training level of the technical staff required for air traffic management at national and international level.

On the other hand, Asca´s director Clara Fernández explained that the 360-degree aerodrome simulator is a state-of-the-art educational platform, the first of its kind in the region. She said that “with the acquisition of the aerodrome simulator with Artmacs System in 360-degree configuration the Asca will be able to offer its students more versatility and training more in line with reality.”
The symbolic cutting of the ribbon was also attended by the Director of Air Navigation, Claudia Roa and Rafael Reyes, CEO of Airport Team Solutions (ATS), the entity that provides the services of the simulator reconfiguration project, as well as by airport operators, representatives of companies and organizations in the aeronautical sector, IDAC executives and members of the academic community.

The simulator
The new configuration of the control tower simulator allows the incorporation of different training levels, integrating multiple scenarios, exercises and real situations that will facilitate the students a more complete training, which will allow greater ease and efficiency in the practices.
The simulator increases the possibility of presenting advanced images and an impressive range of simulation capabilities for training professionals. It uses high-fidelity 3D images with 360 degrees of visibility and accurately emulates real airfield environments.
The commissioning of the ATC simulator allows to raise the level of the Asca instruction, since it is carried out with adequate standards of realism, emulating the communication and visualization systems that are in a real control tower. Likewise, the weather condition can be programmed going from optimal to very small. The simulator is designed with three working positions for air traffic controllers, and has also a space for instructors and an area for feedback on training with modern teaching resources
