Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation informs that FAA review is normal and expected
Héctor Porcella

Santo Dominingo. The general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation Idac, Héctor Porcella, informed that the review of the Federal Aviation Administration, Faa, to countries that have reciprocity agreements with the United States is normal and is generally applied every 5 years.

However, he explained that in the case of the Dominican Republic the last audit of its aviation system was performed in 2007, so that the current IDAC management has been prepared for more than two years for such an eventual inspection.

He said that according to the information available, it will not be a general audit like the one conducted in 2007, but a punctual inspection on specific issues, in which Idac has worked together with a qualified team of international advisors.

Porcella said that such periodic inspection is a normal and predictable practice because it is included in the agreement that governs civil aviation relations between the United States and the Dominican Republic, “which, in turn, gives us the right to do the same, if necessary”, he said.

He stressed that since the current Idac authorities assumed  management in August 2020 they were aware of the necessity  to strengthen the technical and operational safety areas and wait for the next review from the United States, for which they have taken all the forecasts, in order to pass any examination or inspection.
