Santo Domingo. During a long time, the Dominican Republic had lacked of a competitive offer of air service to meet the growing demand of tourist flow and, at the same time, contributes to press a reduction of prices in air tickets.
That reallity had started to change with the strong will of president Luis Abinader to support the new investment in the sector and to instruct the official organism to facilitate and speed up the process of certification of new routes and airlines, without affecting the operational safety established by national and international regulation that regulates the civil aviation.
Actually exist at least 12 airlines in differents phases of certification, and in some of them theyre already operating under the authorized protocol of the Dominican Aeronautical Regulation of IDAC and other competent bodies.
In 2021 it was already certificated Red Air airline, that flies straight to Miami daily and its proposed to open regulars new routes bound to Colombia, Venezuela,Caribbean Island,Europe and several cities of United States.

President Abinader’s will
Last march, during the official launch of the ARAJET airline, of “ultra low cost” , president Abinader proclaimed that in the country it was starting the beginning of the end in the high air ticket fare
That pronouncement of mr president it is a great truth, because the new commercial airlines like Skycana, Sky High y Red Air,that are operates like locals, are spanding the market options and start to have a direct impact in the lowering of air tickets.
These airlines opeation and the ones in process of certification will benefit to the dominicans that travel abroad and to those residents in the United States and in other destination that are being connected by the new routes.
