Santo Domingo.- As part of an institutional collaboration agreement, the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, Idac, delivered to the Presidential Security Corps, Cusep, a batch of state-of-the-art equipment to strengthen security throughout the surroundings of the National Palace, the main seat of the Dominican Government.
The devices delivered by the general director of Idac, Héctor Porcella, to the head of Cusep, Major General of Jimmy Arias Grullón, Erd, are designed for the detection, neutralization and deactivation of drones that could eventually operate in restricted areas, as is the case of the National Palace.
After receiving the collaboration of the Idac, General Arias Grullón explained that the equipment can be used for radio frequency detection; to identify drones and controllers within a 1-mile radius, using frequency bands from 1 megahertz to 6 gigahertz.
It will also be useful for the classification and detection of videos with a range of at least one kilometer and for the neutralization and deactivation of drones that could represent a security risk.
The sophisticated devices have the ability to establish the projection of flight paths and use data from multiple sensors to predict flight paths of any air navigation device.
According to the explanations of the director of Cusep, the new equipment provides an additional layer of protection to the presidential headquarters, ensuring a quick and effective response to any eventuality related to unauthorized drones.
Porcella indicated that with the delivery of the equipment, Idac fulfills a commitment established between the two institutions to complement their responsibilities in strategic security. The delivery of the equipment took place during a brief ceremony held at the Idac headquarters in Santo Domingo.
