Dominican delegation of IDAC and JAC participates in regional forum on Energy Transition of aviation in Brazil

The delegation of the Dominican Republic was made up of Miguel A. Mejía Capellán, Deputy Director and Director of Sustainable Development of IDAC; Héctor Porcella, President of the Civil Aviation Board of the Dominican Republic, Bernarda Franco Secretary of the Plenary of the JAC, Judit S. De León, Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Directorate of IDAC.

Brasilia, Brazil.- A delegation from the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) and the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) of the Dominican Republic, participated in the second regional forum on Energy Transition in Aviation, organized by the Group of Experts on Political, Economic and Legal Affairs of Air Transport (G/57), held in that city.  from 12 to 14 November.

Judit De León, coordinator of the Sustainable Development Directorate of IDAC, participated in the SAF panel – Sustainable Aviation Fuel: Experiences from Latin America, who spoke about the Declaration of Santo Domingo and the Feasibility Study for the production of SAF’s, addressed the challenges of the same.

The panel was moderated by Marcela Anselmi, head of the Macrotask of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (CLAC) and Head of the Environment and Energy Transition Office of the National Civil Aviation Agency of the South American country and host of the event.

The objective of the panel was to present the experiences of countries that have structured internal discussions for the development of national FAS policies in the region.

The session was composed of Sebastián Flores, representative of the Civil Aeronautics Board of Chile, who spoke about the SAF’s route in that country and the energy transition.

In addition, Pietro Mendes, Secretary of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Brazil, addressed the SAF law, enacted in Brazil, multilateral

agreements that have been signed, with the aim of developing it in the region, the challenges and opportunities facing the region.

The delegation of the Dominican Republic was composed of Miguel A. Mejía, deputy director and director of Sustainable Development and De León herself, from IDAC;  Héctor Porcella, president of the Civil Aviation Board; Bernarda Franco, secretary of the Plenary of the JAC, among others.
