
Santo Domingo.The Airport Department (DA) delivered this Thursday to the Civil Aviation Institute (Idac) the construction project of the Cabo Rojo international airport in Pedernales, which contains the results of the technical studies for the development of the first phase, for the analysis, monitoring and subsequent authorization of such construction.
The documents were formally delivered by Víctor Pichardo, executive director of DA, to the head of Idac, Héctor Porcella, in compliance with order Idac 14001, which establishes the requirements for the construction of airports, aerodromes and heliports in the country.
“We are depositing the documentation to give continuity to the working table already established by DA, Idac, Public Private Alliance (Dgapp), and other state institutions,” Pichardo explained during the ceremony held at the headquarters of the institution in charge of air navigation services.
The studies delivered include everything related to the legal part, the cadastral plans, the axis of the runway, the proposed design of the structure and environmental license, among other details that support the airport initiative promoted by the government of President Luis Abinader as part of the tourism development projects of that southern province.
“We reiterate our gratitude to the entire Idac team, not only for receiving us this afternoon, but for all the support they have given us in this project to build an airport that will transform the southern region and the entire Dominican Republic,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Porcella explained that the project delivered by the DA will be reviewed by the technicians of the Idac with the rigor that the work deserves, taking into account the Dominican laws and aeronautical regulations.
“It is a vision of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to be able to develop this project that will have a great impact, not only in the tourist area, but also in the commercial area throughout the southern region of the country,” said Porcella, who announced that they will continue to work together with the DA and other institutions.
In addition to Pichardo, Christiern Broberg and Jorge Leandro Santana, technical director and legal director, respectively, participated for the DA. as well as José Ariza, from the technical unit of the Pro- Pedernales Trust, was present.
