Assess Idac management and affirm category 1 is not at risk

Santo Domingo.- Javier “Jay” Rodríguez, a former official of the Federal Aviation Administration Faa, explained that he withdrew as adviser of the Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil, Idac, due to health issues, and assured that his decision will not affect at all the category 1 of the country in aviation safety.
He explained that after his departure, the institution will have a team of six international advisers to continue the work to keep the Dominican Republic in the highest international levels in compliance with the standards established by Icao.
He defined such versions as incorrect, and explained that he ended his relations with Idac on very best terms, and is extremely grateful for all the support he received from Porcella and Piña De Los Santos to fulfill the task for which he was hired.
Rodríguez denied any relation between his decision and an alleged friction with the interim general director of Idac Héctor Porcella and the director of Flight Standards, Pedro Alberto Piña, as it was disclosed by journalistic versions.
He assured that since his arrival in the country to work for Idac, at request of Mr. Porcella, civil aviation regulatory has achieved a great deal in terms of modernization. He highlighted that the revision and modernization applied during his tenure started with all civil aviation regulations, the updating of new guides for the operations and maintenance inspectors and the approval of modern equipment and new generation engines.
The veteran technician praised Porcella’s management at the head of Idac, and assured that the achievements would not have been possible without his leadership and vision for compliance with operational safety.
Rodríguez is presently in Miami and was interviewe by telephone by journalist Salvador Sánchez, from the evening program “Ahora la Súper 7”, who questioned him about the reasons for his resignation as Idac adviser and a supposed risk to lose category 1 in aviation safety.
